01
Day: Arrive: Delhi:
Meeting and assistance on arrival at the International airport, our representative welcome and escort you by a private car and transfer to the hotel, whilst the room keys and check-in is organized, our representative would hand over the documents and brief the tour programme to you. If you wish you can do the half day sightseeing of Delhi today. Overnight stay in Delhi.
Delhi, capital city of the Federal Republic of India. It is one of India's fastest growing cities. It has sprawled over the West Bank of the river Yamuna, straddling the river. Delhi blends an historic past and a vibrant present. Delhi has some of the finest museums in the country. New Delhi was proclaimed the capital of India by the British architect Sir Edwin Lutyens (1869-1944) & is tree-lined & spacious. Legend has it that the Pandavas, the august heroes of the epic Mahabharata, originally founded Delhi, then called Indraprastha, around 1200 B.C. Present day Delhi is built around the ruins of seven ancient cities.
02 Day: Delhi:
After breakfast take sightseeing tour of historic city
visiting Old Delhi visiting the majestic Red Fort, a
marvel in red sandstone, Jama Masjid, the largest mosque
in India, both built by emperor Shah Jahan of Taj Mahal
fame, Rajghat - memorial of Mahatma Gandhi & a Rickshaw
ride past through the silver street in Chandani Chowk,
the city tour continues covering New Delhi, visiting
Rashtrapati Bhawan, one-time imperial residence of the
British viceroys; the India Gate, a memorial raised
in honour of the Indian soldiers martyred during the
Afghan war; the Laxmi Narayan Temple, built by the Birlas,
one of India’s leading industrial families; Humayun’s
Tomb, lotus shaped Bhai’s Temple , Qutub Minar
, built by Qutub-ud-din Aibek of the Slave Dynasty;
in the evening you can visit to see speculative Light
and Sound Show at Red Fort. Return to the hotel for
overnight at the hotel.
Light and Sound Show: A spectacular sound and light show at the Red Fort. Which makes the 5,000 years old history of the city come alive. Amidst the tranquility of the splendidly panoramic and historic environs of the Red Fort, select episodes from the annals of Delhi's historic and legendary past are vividly brought to life. Special effects combine with the unique ambience to make this show a hauntingly unforgettable experience.
03 Day: Delhi - Bagdogra
(By Air) - Darjeeling (90 kms - 4 hours):
Morning after breakfast transfer to airport for flight
to Bagdogra. Arrival and continuation by the road towards
Darjeeling: queen of the mountains, through a landscape
of wooded hills of tea plants. Upon arrival check in
at the hotel. Rest of the day free or walk around the
Mall Overnight at the hotel.
Darjeeling popularly known as the "Queens of Hill Stations" offers a picturesque view of the Himalayan panorama. It is a superlative combination of fern-filled valleys, snow-capped peaks and tea-scented air. Darjeeling is famous for tea gardens, magnificent view of the Himalayas, Kanchenjunga peak, beautiful valleys, trekking to high altitude and famous toy train. As it is Darjeeling attracts botanists, ornithologists, adventurers, photographers and holidaymakers alike. With its array of scenic wonders and a rich folk culture, Darjeeling has something for everyone. The name Darjeeling is a composition of 'dorje' meaning 'thunderbolt' and 'ling' meaning 'place' ... 'the Land of Thunderbolt'. Until the beginning of the 18th century the Darjeeling belonged to the rajas of Sikkim. In 1780 they lost Darjeeling to Gurkhas. A series of wars were fought between the Gurkhas and East India Company, eventually leading to the defeat of the Gurkhas. Campbell (from British) built the district and laid the foundation of the, now multi-million dollar tea industry in 1841. Now after freedom Darjeeling had developed a lot and numerous tea gardens had been established. Its beauty attracts the tourist from all over the world.
04 Day: Darjeeling:
In the morning visit the highest spot in the area at
2590 m, Tiger Hill is near Ghoom, about 11km from Darjeeling.
The hill is famous for its magnificent dawn views over
Kanchenjunga and other eastern Himalayan peaks. On a
clear day even Mount Everest is visible. Visit the Observatory
hill & Tibetian refugee camp. Rest of the day at
free. Overnight at the hotel.
05 Day: Darjeeling –
Pemayangtse (90 kms 4 hours):
Morning after breakfast checkout and drive to Pemayangtse
- The mighty Kanchenjunga overlooks the land of Sikkim
and Pemayangtse in Sikkim nestles close to Kanchenjunga.
Pemayangtse is not a settlement. This is where 6000
ft above sea level one of the most famous Buddhist monasteries
is located. The Pemayangtse monastery is the second
oldest monastery in Sikkim and is the headquarters of
the Nyingma sect. Overnight at the hotel.
Pemayangtse Monastery: Pemayangtse monastery at an altitude of about 7,000 ft is situated about 6kms from Gyalshing town. It is the most important monastery of the Nyingmapa order and first built as a small temple in the late seventeenth century by Latsun Chembo. The monastery houses numerous religious idols and other objects of worship, most of which are priceless because of their antiquity. On the top floor of the monastery there is a wooden sculpture portraying the Mahaguru's Heavenly Palace Sangthokpalri. The main festival of the monastery is on the 28th and the 29th day of the 12th month of the Tibetan calendar which normally corresponds to the month of February.
06 Day: Pemayangtse - Gangtok
(100 kms - 4 hours):
Morning after breakfast checkout the hotel and drive
to Gangtok The state of Sikkim lies in the shadow of
the mighty Kanchenjunga and its capital, Gangtok, is
a picturesque mountain clinging town with monasteries,
parks, pagoda style houses and colourful bazaars. Upon
arrival check in at the hotel. Later sightseeing of
Gangtok covering Tashi View Point, Ganesh Tok, Hanuman
Tok, Do Drul Choten, Flower Show, Cottage Industries,
Ennchey Monastery, Later return to the hotel for overnight
stay.
Gangtok: Situated at an elevation of 5600 feet, on the flank of the ridge, lies 'High Hills' alias the capital city of Sikkim, Gangtok. With about 30, 000 people inhabiting it, it is the largest town in the city. The snow-capped peaks of the Kanchenjunga envelopes the town and offers spectacular view. Amidst the whipping prayer flags, brightly painted pagoda houses, hums of prayers in the background, coupled with smiling people against the beautiful scenic backdrop of the Gangtok, this truly becomes a place worth visiting. It is a heavily forested region bounded by the rivers Tista and Tolung, and surrounded by the mountain ranges of Kanchenjunga, Pandim, Narsing, Simvo and Siniolchu. The Stupas, the monasteries, all reach out with full mysticism to attract a large number of people to this magical land every year.Gangtok, apart from being the second smallest state of India, is also host to some of the important Buddhist religious sites. The small town itself is a beautiful place to be moving around, apart from Gangtok housing many other tourists' attractions. A peaceful blend of traditionalism and modernity, Gangtok is truly a snow covered, fun paradise.
06 Day: Gangtok:
After breakfast take an excursion tour to Tsomgo Lake
– 32 kms, situated at a height of 3,780 meters
with an average depth of 50 ft. The cool water of the
lake is perfectly attuned with the scenic beauty around
and enjoy the Yak ride and Tibetans dish momo. Return
back to Hotel. Overnight at Gangtok.
Tsomgo: It is literally known as "source of the lake” in Bhutia language. Just about 40 kms. away from Gangtok, the capital of the state, this serene lake is situated at an altitude of 12,000 ft on the Gangtok Nathu La highway. It falls in the restricted area and hence an inner line permit is required by Indians to visit this place. Foreign nationals are not permitted to visit this lake without special permission. The lake is about 1 km. Long, oval in shape, 15 meters deep and is considered sacred by the local people. It is also a home of brahminy ducks. It's cool, placid water harmonizes with the scenic beauty around. A small temple of lord Siva is constructed on the lakeside. This placid lake remains frozen during the winter months up to mid-May.
07 Day: Gangtok:
Later if time permits then take an excursion to Rumtek
Monastery –24 kms, Rumtek is a famous monastery,
all over the world, especially among the Tibetan Buddhists,
and is situated near Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim.
Originally called the Dharma Chakra Centre, it includes
a beautiful shrine temple and a monastery for the monks.
The 16th Karmapa built the monastery. The place got
an existence in the Buddhist pilgrimage map, especially
after Chinese habitation in Tibet and subsequent relocations
of some Tibetan religious gurus to Sikkim. After visit
drive back to Gangtok. Overnight at the hotel.
10 Day: Gangtok - Kalimpong
(55 kms - 2 hours):
Morning after breakfast check out the hotel and drive
to Kalimpong - situated at an altitude of 1250 meters
between the Deolo and Durbindra Hills, Kalimpong is
an ideal place for a quiet holiday amidst gently rolling
hills and deep valleys at the foot of the mighty Himalayas.
On arrival transfer to the hotel. Afternoon visit Durpin
Dara; Flower nurseries Gouripur House; Swiss Welfare
Dairy & Tibetan Monastery. Overnight at the hotel.
Kalimpong is well known for its many educational institutions, which attract students from all over North East India, West Bengal, Bhutan, Nepal, and Bangladesh. In recent times, Kalimpong has become an important tourist destination owing to its temperate climate and proximity to popular tourist locations in the region. Kalimpong is also famous for its flower market, especially the wide array of orchids. It also houses several Buddhist monasteries which hold a number of rare Tibetan Buddhist scriptures.A beautiful hill town in North Bengal which can be reached from either Siliguri or Darjeeling. KALIMPONG – means king’s minister’s strong hold – a Bhutanese word. It is also called Kalimpong in local dialect meaning "black spur". As per Lepchas Kalimpong means ‘ridge where we play’. It is said that these local tribesmen used to organise field sports while not engaged in agricultural pursuit – hence the name.Situated at an altitude of 1250 metres, it enjoys temperate climate throughout the year. Somewhat secluded and tucked away in the corner under big Darjeeling umbrella, Kalimpong offers a quiet and relaxed holiday, against the backdrop of the Kanchenjunga.
11 Day: Kalimpong - Bagdogra
(65 kms - 2 hours) - Delhi (By Air):
Morning after breakfast in time transfer to Bagdogra
airport to board the morning flight for Delhi. Assistance
on arrival at Delhi airport transfer to hotel. Evening
free to relax, overnight at the hotel.
12 Day: Delhi – Hometown
(By Air):
Morning after breakfast the day is free for leisure.
Later in time transfer to the international airport
to board the scheduled flight for home country. On departure
tour concludes with happy memories.
